All the existing 33/11 KV substations of WZPDCL (Voltage, Current, Load and other parameters) and the record of on / off feeders are recorded by the working SBAs in the manual logbook. In addition indoor feeders are turned on / off in front of the Live Panel which is risky for the working SBA. In the absence of a computerized data base, the information stored in the manual logbook is not conducive to future planning analysis.

It is also not possible to monitor the overall condition of the substation from the central control room. As the strategic technology of the existing automation system is dependent on foreign imports, it is very expensive and at the same time it has to depend on foreign engineers for maintenance / expansion work. To solve these problems, Joragate, Khulna 33/11 KV substation was constructed initially to implement the Innovation Idea under the title Low Cost Substation Automation System (SUS) with SCADA.
